Use webcam for videochats (For Windows)

It should work in theory, but my Skype exists some issues, so I haven't done a test indeed. If you make success, please add a comment here.

1. Download webcamXP MJPG filter (free for personal use).
    Download page: http://webcamxp.com/download.aspx

2. Install webcamXP

3. Configure in Skype

  1. Well, I was able to connect it, some of the things I had to do is that after every configuration, I must turn off the server from the program and then start it again, but the main issue for me is that the camera looks very weird. There must be some plugin issues I think, i dont know, any idea?

  3. Thank you hBruna, another user reported the same issue, I will research it. Could you try to open the http://ip:port/playWebCam.json?size=S in your Firefox, Chrome or Safari browser for a test?

  7. When opening in Chrome or IE9 on Win7 x64 I receive "Failed to start WebCam"

On one occasion a static image from the camera did load in Chrome - but I didn't have "Publish webcam" ticked in Desktop Server Preference when it did.

It didn't work in Skype - permanently trying to connect to url.

While writing this comment I've just changed size=S to size=M (for fun) and I now how have streaming images in my browser - I can even see my hand waving in front of the camera :)

My phone is in it's cradle (portrait) - but the image is rotated landscape - but at least I have an image!

I've changed the url back to size=S and reloaded - I've received a static image - no motion. I refreshed the page and again I only receive "Failed to start WebCam"

Changed url back to size=M and it's working again!

I've just gone in to Skype and changed the url to size=M and it's able to connect but the image is completely corrupted.

JPEG Decoder keeps switching between JPEG Error #68, #51, #8 and #35 - if that helps.

TBH I don't know when I'll use this feature but it's pretty cool and I'm happy to help test it!

    Phone: Nexus S
    Android 2.3.4 (not rooted)

P.S for the record it looks like I can put any letter in the "size=" portion of the url, as long as it's not 'S' and it connects, the moment size=S it fails.

I don't even need the "size=" portion at all and it still connects.

Sorry for long post - just wanted to share feedback.

  8. To omniscient:

Thank you very mush for your detail feedback, I will try to figure it out.

size=S mean to get 480*320 picture, otherwise, it will return the default size. For N1, it's 640*480

  10. Any chance the option of using the front camera rather than the rear camera will be implemented?
